Brian Paddick and Alex Carlile shortlisted for gay awards

Lib Dem London Mayor candidate Brian Paddick

Prominent Liberal Democrats Brian Paddick and Alex Carlile have been shortlisted for this year's Stonewall Awards.

Brian Paddick has been shortlisted for Hero of the Year. In May he was Lib Dem candidate for Mayor of London, making him probably the most high profile out candidate for any elected office in Britain to date.

Lord Carlile is on the list for Politician of the Year, following his contribution to the recent House of Lords debate on fertility.

The winners will be unveiled at a ceremony on 6th November.
