New Youth Group For Croydon

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 1st Sep 2005

A new Youth Group in Croydon, Surrey will offer gay, lesbian and bisexual young people a new place to get advice on issues from safer sex to coming out and coping at school.

Modelled on a similar scheme run by the Terence Higgins Trust, NRG Croydon is designed as a safe space for people under 21.

Croydon council is paying for the project and Councillor Louisa Woodley, cabinet member for education, youth and lifelong learning says "We want to ensure all teenagers, regardless of their sexuality, have support and access to information about their sexual and emotional health in an atmosphere where they feel comfortable.'

Meanwhile, Joshua Bradley, NRG youth worker for the Terrence Higgins Trust in Croydon, said: "We're really pleased to be involved in launching NRG here. It's so important that lesbian, gay and bisexual young people have somewhere they can meet others and just be themselves, without worrying about feeling different."

If you want to join NRG Croydon call Joshua on 07771 858057.
